Great Start in Miami, Karolína Routs Brengle

Karolína Plíšková continues with her excellent performances and started the tournament in Miami with a win. In her opening match she defeated the American qualifier Brengle 6-1, 6-3 in just under an hour.

Last week, Karolína defended the semifinals at Indian Wells after losing a battle against the Russian Kuznetsova. A year ago, after the Indian Wells semifinals, she was knocked out of Miami in her first match. But this time the history didn’t repeat itself. Two days after celebrating her 25th birthday she gave no chance to Madison Brengle. The American resisted only for 59 minutes.

Plíšková had 30 unforced errors in the match, but also shot 27 winners. “I’m glad I’m through to the third round quite easily. It was very hot, so it’s good it went quickly,” Karolína commented on her opening match in Miami.

Karolína will play her third round match in Key Biscayne on Saturday, against Putintseva,
