I’m Glad for the Chance to Play in New Haven, says Karolína

The Connecticut Open in New Haven is traditionally the last test before the U.S. Open. And this year, after a three-year break, Karolína Plíšková will be among the participants as well.

The change of plans came after the early elimination in Cincinnati. “I’m glad I was given the chance to play at the New Haven tournament. I wasn’t very successful here in the past but I feel I need some more match practice before the U.S. Open,” said the Czech player.

As a number four seed, she will encounter Ekaterina Makarova of Russia in her first match, whom she faced last time in March in Miami and won in straight sets 7-5, 7-5. The match is scheduled to be played on Monday, 20th August.

And maybe the singles tournament won’t be Karolína’s only activity in New Haven. “I’m even considering playing in the doubles tournament with my sister Kristýna, who played the qualification here,” added Karolína Plíšková.
