Karolína Knocked Out of First Round in New Haven

Karolína Plíšková ended her singles campaign at the Connecticut Open in New Haven, USA in the first round already after losing to Ekaterina Makarova in straight sets 1-6, 3-6.

Karolína started the match with a love game but then plunged into a crisis, quickly losing three consecutive serves as well as the first set in 22 minutes.

In the second set the players fought for their serves for a long time and unfortunately at 1-1 Karolína couldn’t convert any of her three break points. On the other hand, Makarova managed to capitalize on her single break-point chance in the eighth game and served the match out to make it 6-3.

In their head-to-head record Karolína Plíšková recorded her fourth loss versus a single win.
