Semifinal Over in One Hour, Karolína to Fight for Her 12th Title

Karolína will fight in Tianjin for her third title of the season and twelfth in her career. In the Tianjin Open semifinal she deafeated Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland clearly 6-2, 6-1.

Karolína showed great tennis on Saturday supported by high first-serve percentage. And despite Bacsinszky managed to keep the pace early in the match, Karolína broke her resistance in the sixth game, when she converted her second break point and went into a 4-2 lead. She grabbed the first set while again on return, capitalizing on her third set point.

The second set was then a one-sided affair. Karolína kept serving well and allowed her opponent to win only nine rallies. She finished the match in just over an hour and will face Caroline Garcia of France in the final.

Karolína still fights with Kiki Bertens for a spot at the WTA Finals in Singapore and after winning the semifinal she increased the margin ahead of her rival to 130 points.
