Cooperation Broadens: Conchita Martinez to Coach Karolína Full-Time
Following the tournament in Dubai, Karolína agreed with the coach Conchita Martinez on full-time cooperation.
“We’ve been gradually getting to know with Conchita since the last year’s U.S. Open and I’m so satisfied with her work that I was striving for full-time cooperation. I’m glad we managed to reach an agreement,” Karolína said.
The satisfaction with the cooperation is mutual. “The negotiations were easy because Conchita feels fulfilled working with Karolína and sees a big potential in her,” the manager Michal Hrdlička added.
The coaching team was therefore narrowed and doesn’t include the Australian Rennae Stubbs anymore, who started helping Karolína last autumn and also helped form the cooperation between Conchita and Karolína. She also worked as a commentator for ESPN at Grand Slam tournaments. “I thanked Rennae for quality cooperation and wish her good luck in her personal as well as professional life,” Karolína said.
Conchita Martinez is a 1994 Wimbledon champion and won Fed Cup five times as a player. She started coaching following her retirement in 2006 and worked with the likes of Shahar Peer, Janet Husárová, Rennae Stubbs or Garbiñe Muguruza. She also captained the Spanish Fed Cup team. Conchita started working with Karolína in 2018.
The coaching team also includes the fitness coach Azuz Simcich, the physio Salvador Guzman and the mental coach Marian Jelínek.
