Karolína: I’d Like to Find My Form in Stuttgart

After a month’s break Karolína returns to the WTA tour. She has good memories of the Stuttgart tournament, where she triumphed in 2018. But this time it will be all about getting a good feeling about her game again.

“I didn’t have an ideal start to the season. I think there were some good games, but there were more games where I wanted to play better. I’ve had consistent performances for many years, but this year is a bit different,” Kája said at the pre-tournament press conference.

She changed her coach before the season, but Sascha Bajin is still waiting for any considerable success with Karolína.

“Of course I didn’t play that well, but that’s not his fault. Sometimes you have no idea why things happen the way they do. But Sascha is doing his best, and I’m doing my best too. I believe the success will come, everything is working well. And I just feel that I need to give it more time,” Karolína added.

Between the tournaments in Miami and Stuttgart, she also wanted to give some rest to her wrist, which has been limiting her since the end of last year.

“I’m not the youngest anymore,” she laughed. “But it’s just kind of up and down. It always gets better for a while. I undergo treatments that always help temporarily. But it’s not a therapy I want to undergo regularly every month. But now it doesn’t hurt, which is the main thing,” explained Karolína.

Kája is looking forward to the tournament in Stuttgart, although she expects that it won’t be easy this time. “The bracket is full of great names here, not one round will be easy. I would like to play as many games as possible and find my form back. I’ve always enjoyed playing here, it’s not windy or sunny. And also the clay is faster here.”
