Sascha Bajin will be missing at the US Open, Karolina will be helped by Leoš Friedl
The last grand slam tournament of the season will be played by Karolína without coach Sascha Bajin. New member of the coaching team at american tournaments is Czech former doubles specialist Leoš Friedl.
German coach Sascha Bajin has long sought visas for the United States, but has failed to obtain them. “Sascha stayed in the US longer than he had during the covid pandemic last year. He has a house in Florida and he didn’t want to travel that much. This year, however, he still did not receive a visa because of that. We tried to work intensively on it, but to this day we have not been able to solve it, “explains Karolina’s manager and husband Michal Hrdlička.
That’s why Czech coach Leoš Friedl helped Karolína at the tournament in Cincinnati. “We have agreed to help out in the US tournaments, now we have a joint US Open. I really thank him, because he had to cancel his planned family program,” adds Michal Hrdlička.
Forty-four-year-old Leoš Friedl is currently the coach of Slovak doubles tennis player Filip Polášek. In his playing career, he managed to advance to the grand slam quarterfinals at the French Open and the US Open in doubles, and in 2001 he became the winner of the Wimbledon mix together with the Slovak Daniela Hantuchová.
